13 Facts About Me:

I like frogs.
-
I still don't know where I stand exactly on the gun debate issue.
I have Asperger's syndrome, a form of autism.
During my teenage years, I'd often browse through endless Wikipedia and Britannica pages trying to gather all the knowledge I could for later life. This has actually been surprisingly handy.
I have more tolerance for trolls than I do for stupid people. I find it hard to tolerate stupidity.
I get depressed at the state of the world and worry genuinely for what the future will be like fairly often these days. I don't want to die a sad broken person but at this rate it seems inevitable.
I like using BOLD writing to highlight key words in my journals and comments to make it easier to read.
I like the Portal video game.
I like cake.
One of these facts is a lie. (Also I guess the title is... there's only 12 facts about me and one like... which may or may not be the cake).
I have a lot of Lego!
I have a bad habit of staying up far too late on DA and sometimes making a fool of myself in debates when I'm tired! XD
My real name actually has never been mentioned online (at least, on social media like DeviantArt) in any form. I use aliases (mainly because I voice controversial opinions). Some of these aliases are Arthur, John, Daniel, Rick, and of course, I go by TheArtFrog. And all pictures of me have been edited with paint so my face isn't actually recognisable through recognition software as my real face. I take my privacy seriously, or at least what little privacy one can get these days.

13 Questions From AmericanDreaming:

1. If you had to pick, which opinion or view do you currently hold that's most likely to be wrong.

I do a lot of research and thinking to make sure that most of my views are likely to be right. XD But still, I think that my views regarding there being about 3 to 5 genders/gender identities, while I think it's fairly rational, it is still unproven and it's likely to be disproven in the future.

2. What's the farthest (in miles or kilometers) you've ever travelled continuously on foot without breaks?

I did a 10 km run. I also climbed up a few mountains, including the highest mountain in Wales. I'm not as fit as I used to be though! :D

3. If your country instituted a military draft and you were selected, what would you do?

I'd refuse on two grounds, one of being mentally unfit to serve due to my autism, and two I'd have conscientious objection to killing another person.

If the war was for self defence purposes of the country I live in, I would offer to help in some other way such as producing goods to help soldiers or feed civilians or something. Maybe design tanks or invent better defensive barricades if they'd let me? (since my country's army is behind in technology and considering my father's history building and repairing tanks for museums/shows, I might just about get away with that sort of job if they'd let me).

If the war wasn't one for self defence, I'd refuse entirely to help or participate in their war. It's not my war and I don't want any part in it.

4. Does objective truth exist?

Of course. It's objectively true that computers exist? You're looking into the screen of some form of computer right now. It exists. That is an objective truth.

I've always detested postmodern subjectivity. :/

5. If you had to enter a competitive eating contest, but could choose the food, what would it be?

Bowls of cereal. I can go through a 750g packet in a day if I'm not careful about my eating habits.

6. What's your favourite book? Fiction and nonfiction.

There's many I could pick... Sherlock Holmes, H.P. Lovecraft's works, Terry Pratchett's Discworld novels, Sun Tzu's The Art of War (an ironic choice for a staunch pacifist), Alice in Wonderland, the Bible (it's an entertaining gory fairytale/comedy for me)...

Ultimately I'd probably go for a script (not technically a book, but sold in book form)... The Shakespearean play Macbeth. I did it in school, but I actually genuinely liked the tragic fall of the paranoid anti-hero, the humanity, the existential parts... overall it's a great tale, full of sound and fury, signifying the human condition, flaw, ambition... It's got some of my favourite quotes too. :)

7. What do you consider the single most important advancement humanity should make?

The transition into a society that doesn't interfere with the basic freedoms and rights of a person would be perhaps the greatest. That or immortality. Out of the two I'm not sure which I'd pick, given the choice.

8. What is a moral principle you hold that you consider nonnegotiable?

Freedom and consent.

9. Would you violate that nonnegotiable moral principle to achieve the most important advancement for humanity?

Nope. Especially since they're kind of intertwined in my case, above.

10. You are given a ticket to be on the first colony ship to Mars. Do you go?

If everyone I knew or cared about had died and I didn't have any earthly attachments anymore, then I would. But I probably would just sell the tickets if I was given them tomorrow. I like Earth and the people in my life. Especially OH-MY-ARCEUS:)

11. If the technology existed, would you upload your consciousness into an artificial mind?

One of the few Youtube videos I made was specifically about what a stupid and dangerous idea it'd be to do exactly that. It'd simply be copying my consciousness at best, that mind wouldn't be me, it'd be a simulation or a copy of my mind. I'd still exist.
Or worst case scenario it'd literally be suicide. So I'd have to decline.

12. If you could have one superhuman or magical ability, what would it be?

Mastery of time, including time travel and the ability to slow my aging process. :)

13. What's your hot beverage of choice?

Earl grey mixed with standard black tea, left to steep for 3 minutes and then poured with low fat cow's milk. :happybounce:

  1. Is it better to be ignorant and happy, or knowledgeable but fearful and depressed? Why?
The second option is better, because I am extremely curious to how the universe works.

  1. What is your favourite quote?
''The pale blue dot'' from Carl Sagan has an awesome quote. I can't remember it accurately, so I won't quote it.
  1. If you could turn all water on earth into any other liquid (and we could survive off of whatever you changed it into), what would you choose?
Methanol, becaus apparently it would have even better properties than water to sustain life, if adapted to it.
  1. Do you prefer cats, dogs, or fish?
From a phylogenetic standpoint, all of them are fish. So I choose fish.
  1. You are stricken with a horrific disease. Is a potential cure for it worth the risk of death if the cure should be administered?
Yes!
  1. How healthy do you think you are judging solely by the consistency and texture of your last defecation?
I'm very healthy.
  1. Were you grossed out by the previous question or have you learned the importance of feces in assessing your physical health? (I'm being part silly, part serious here! XD)
No, I know the importance of feces.
  1. If you could live in any work of fiction, be it a movie, animation, book or game, what would it be and why?
No idea....
  1. If you were stranded in a boat with only one person, who would you choose that person to be if you could?
Bear Grylls, because he knows how to survive in a stranded boat so I won't die.
  1. Can you lick your elbow, and are you trying to attempt it upon reading this question?
I have done it before, so yes I can.
  1. If you were wholly paralysed completely for life, would you rather doctors pulled out life support, or would you want to live as long as you could?
I would want to live for a while but not for long.
  1. Your house is on fire. What is the first thing you'd reach for to protect from the flames?
''Thing'' so not my family or pets? Then I'd reach for my laptop I guess. I don't have many very valueble stuff.
  1. If you were a politician in charge of your country, what policies would you put in place?
